As is with the flu or the common cold, it is the elderly population who get hit hardest in the wake of illnesses targeting the human pulmonary system.
But when it comes to COVID-19, the virus apparently is more of a threat for diabetics, Hispanics and African Americans, said Dr. Anthony Gipson, director of the emergency room at Medical Arts Hospital.
“It is not they are more likely infected. They become worse as they become infected,” Gipson said. “We see that nationally. We don’t necessarily see that locally.”
