More than 40 school teachers, administrators and others packed the meeting room at Thursday’s Lamesa school board meeting to show their support for Superintendent Jim Knight. The action came after an unsubstantiated rumor started circulating that Knight is about to lose his job. School staff members said they heard the rumor 24-48 hours before the school board meeting began Thursday night. The topic was not on the agenda for the meeting, so school board members could not legally respond to comments made during the public forum portion of the meeting.
