The wait’s finally over for the Klondike Cougars.
They secured their first district championship on the gridiron in 25 years by shutting out the Loop Longhorns, 56-0, on Friday night at Jim and Pat Nance Field.
It was the fifth time this season that the Cougars shut out a opponent.
“This is just awesome. I’m probably not going to be able to sleep for a while tonight,” said Dalton DeGraffenreid, Klondike’s 27-year-old head football coach.
“I’m just super proud of all of our guys. Knowing how hard that our guys work out here, it’s good to see it get paid off.”
