The man behind the name

Sidney Lamar Forrest lived through the Spanish Flu, two World Wars, and the switch from horsepower to engine power. You probably see or hear his name every day in Lamesa but know little if anything about him. It is his name that graces Forrest Park and the Forrest Park Community Center. Four years after his death, Lamesa Rotary Club members dedicated the S.L. Forrest parkland in his honor.
