With all five members in attendance, the Dawson County Commissioners Court on Tuesday gave unanimous approval to the county’s new tax rate in what essentially was a do-over of action taken last week.
The new tax rate is 97.0920 cents per $100 valuation for the county’s 2021 fiscal year.
That same tax rate had been approved on a 3-0 vote by the commissioners court on Tuesday of last week. However, county offcials learned the following day that state law requires at least four members of a commissioners court – a super-quorum – be present when adopting a tax rate.
