The coronavirus pandemic has curtailed some homecoming traditions, but it has not put a complete halt to the annual event.
Lamesa High School plans to play football as usual and crown their new homecoming queen this coming Friday.
“It will be a socially distance homecoming,” said Lamesa High School (LHS) Principal Jerry Jerabek.
The Lamesa Golden Tornadoes face the River Road Wildcats in a football home game beginning at 7 p.m.
This year LHS is doing away with its annual homecoming dance.
School officials are looking into whether the traditional parade and lighting of the school letters will also be cut from the festivities.
