The following were among the many calls received recently by the Lamesa Police Department: Friday, Sept. 4 12:33 a.m. – The fire department was dispatched to a grass fire behind a residence in the 2000 block of N. Elgin Ave. 9:15 a.m. – A caller reported that his car was struck by another vehicle in a hit-and-run incident during the night. 9:23 p.m. – Martin County authorities reported a motorcycle being clocked at 131 miles per hour heading north on Hwy. 349 toward Lamesa. Just south of Lamesa a sheriff’s deputy began a pursuit of the motorcycle. (See separate story on Page 3.) 9:58 p.m.
