Although she once was told she was too short to do anything in track, that didn’t keep Jill Nix from standing tall for Lamesa High School in that sport.
“When I was in junior high I had coaches tell me that I was too short to run the hurdles,” said Nix, a 2004 LHS graduate. “But back then I really was a runt. It seemed like everybody was always 6 to 12 inches taller than me.”
