As much pride as she has as a coach in the Class 6A Midland Lee softball program, Cassie Hernandez is just as proud of the Lamesa Golden Tornadoes’ successful softball program.
Why not? Hernandez played on Lamesa High School’s first-ever high school softball team. Her mom Yolanda had pushed hard to get the program going back when Cassie was a sophomore year in high school.
Cassie was a pitcher on that first LHS softball team in 1997.
