It’s safe to say that Lamesa’s Casey Sumpter spent most of his life on the run.
But then what else would you expect out of the Golden Tornadoes’ two-time Class 3A state cross country champion.
Sumpter won his first state title in 2001 when he completed the 5K course at Round Rock in 16:21. He followed that up his senior year by running a 16:19 to again win the state title.
