Lamesa’s downtown area could see significant improvements if the city is successful with a grant application to the Texas Department of Agriculture.
Lamesa City Council members agreed during their regular meeting Tuesday evening to apply for a Downtown Revitalization Program grant of up to $500,000.
If the city’s application is successful, City Manager Sean Overeynder said, the money would be used to improve sidewalks and lighting in an area north, south and east of the downtown square.
Similar improvements were made a number of years ago in the area immediately surrounding the courthouse.
