A sudden jump in the number of COVID-19 cases reported here this week shouldn’t be cause for alarm, according to a local doctor. Mayor Josh Stevens announced Friday that seven new cases of the novel coronavirus here have been confirmed this past week. That pushes the total number of confirmed cases in Dawson County to 37. But Stevens said there is good news in that the number of active cases here actually has decreased to nine. Eleven more individuals who have had the virus have completed their quarantine period this week and are back in the public, Stevens reported. The seven new cases confirmed here,
