Ruth Barron Manuel
Ruth Barron Manuel, 94, of Big Spring, passed away Friday, May 15, 2020, in a local nursing home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Brad Daniels and Rev. Scott Kirkland officiating. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at the Dawson County Cemetery in Lamesa, Texas.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at the funeral home.
She was born June 29, 1925 in Lamesa, Texas to H. F. and Effie Barron. She married Kenneth Manuel February 19, 1972 in Big Spring and he preceded her in death February 12, 1994.
Ruth worked for Energas Company for 27 years. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association. She held all of the offices and was named Woman of the Year in 1978. Ruth was active as a Scenic Mountain Medical Center Volunteer and was Voted Best Hospital Volunteer in 2005. She enjoyed traveling and was devoted to her family.
Ruth was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, was a devoted Christian and taught Sunday school.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra McElreath and husband, H.D., Sherry Mitchell and husband, Jerry, all of Arlington; and Sara Mott of Melissa; six grandchildren, Jana Shahidi, Jay Mitchell, Jada Richardson, Brad Mott, Holly Wierzba and Dr. Andy Mott; 21 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Barron and wife, Jo of Odessa; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, E. L. “Buddy” Barron and Hugh Barron; and a sister, Irene Malett.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Interim Hospice, and the staff and nurses at Parkview Nursing and Rehab for their excellent care.
