The Lamesa school district was able Friday to resume providing meals for children to eat during the weekends, according to Superintendent Jim Knight.
Those meal deliveries resumed on Friday after authorization was received from the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA), which oversees the national school lunch program in Texas.
“The TDA is going to allow us to start serving meals on weekends again,” Knight said Thursday afternoon. “We will be sending out three meals for every kid starting tomorrow.”
Those three meals he mentioned are the normal Friday meals, along with meals for Saturday and Sunday.
