A new fire truck expected to be ready for service sometime this coming week should be a big help in battling fires both in the city of Lamesa and the rural areas of Dawson County, according to Lamesa Fire Chief Larry Duyck.
The department has been working the past couple of weeks to get the new truck fully equipped and ready to go.
A four-wheel-drive 2019 Freightliner, the pumper/ tanker is designed to carry 1,250 gallons of water.
Most other pumpers carry 750-1,000 gallons, Duyck said.
