Although emphasizing they are continuing to provide the same medical care as usual, Medical Arts Hospital officials on Friday implemented plans to control access to the hospital in light of the rapid spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus.
“We’re not saying don’t come if you need help,” said Dr. Michael Sprys, the hospital’s chief of staff.
Instead, the process will screen everyone entering the hospital and limit who can come in as visitors.
The only entrance now open at the hospital is the out-patient entrance adjacent to the emergency room, said Letha Stokes, chief executive officer of the Dawson County Hospital District.
