Although no cases of the COVID-19 Coronavirus had been reported in West Texas as of noon Friday, the impact of the pandemic certainly hit here this past week. Certain foods and supplies were disappearing off of store shelves, college students were being sent home to finish their semester with online classes, and athletic events and other extracurricular school activities have been cancelled. Local residents heading to the big Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo got sent back home and others who had traveled to distant high school and college basketball tournaments also were turned away when those events were cancelled.
