The Dawson County Hospital District’s actions the past few years in “right sizing” the services it offers should help it as even more financial challenges are coming, according to Chief Executive Officer Letha Stokes. During Thursday’s regular monthly meeting of the district’s board of directors, Stokes said projected cuts in federal supplemental programs such as Medicare are expected to impact Medical Arts Hospital to the tune of $860,000. “That’s $860,000 in operating cash that we will be working diligently to overcome,” Stokes told the board. “This is nothing that this hospital district has done.
