Mildred Leatherwood

    Funeral services for Mildred Leatherwood, 101, of Lamesa will be held Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church with Pastor Tobey Clements officiating.
    Interment will be held at Dawson County Cemetery.
    Visitation will be held following the service at Second Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. 
    Mildred passed away Sunday, February 16, 2020 in Lamesa. 
    She was born October 28, 1918 in Canadian, Texas to Ernest and Hattie (Bussell) Lakey. She married Custer Leatherwood November 11, 1936 in Dawson County. She worked as a seamstress at Dottie Dan and Ruth’s Draperies. Custer and Mildred worked for many years at the Bargain Shop. She was a member of the Young at Hearts and lifetime member of Second Baptist Church.
    Mildred is survived by her children, Janice Brown of Brownwood and Dennis Leatherwood and wife, Vickie of Lamesa; seven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
    She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Ilene Pinkerton; sister, Josie Lee Boatwright; and brothers, Howard Lakey and Everett Lakey. 
    The family suggests memorials to Second Baptist Church 1705 N. Bryan Avenue, Lamesa, TX 79331.
