Roads, the county jail, finances and crime were among the various topics addressed during a Candidates Forum hosted Thursday evening by the Lamesa Area Chamber of Commerce.
More than 100 people were on hand for the event aimed at allowing the public to get to know the candidates for local offices in the upcoming primary elections.
The forum focused on the contested races for sheriff and Precinct 1 county commissioner but also included two unopposed candidates.
All three candidates for sheriff touted their individual experience and leadership skills while addressing issues ranging from the overcrowded jail situation to drugs and crime.
