Midland-based Cooper Construction has been ranked as the top prospect to handle a potential county jail renovation or construction project here.
Cooper Construction received the top rating at the conclusion of a five-hour joint meeting Thursday of the Dawson County Commissioners Court and a local jail advisory committee, according to County Judge Foy O’Brien.
The commissioners court authorized O’Brien, County Auditor Rhonda Martin, and Jeff Heffelfinger to negotiate with Cooper Construction on a contract to serve as construction manager at risk.
