“He died ‘so that others might live,’” stated the bold headline on the front page of Friday’s Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
That headline was referring to 67-year-old Richard White of River Oaks, a suburb of Fort Worth.
White was one of two congregation members killed by a gunman who opened fire last Sunday inside the West Freeway Church of Christ in nearby White Settlement.
An armed member of the volunteer security team at the church, White was the first to confront the gunman, identified as 43-year-old Keith Kinnunen, when he pulled out a shotgun during the worship service.
