A celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lamesa is planned this coming Thursday. The church, at 407 N. Hartford Ave. on the east side of Lamesa, was established on Dec. 12, 1949. Commemoration of the anniversary already has been in progress with a nine-week Family Rosary. The Catholic community sends an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe home each Saturday with a parish family for prayer, and the image is returned the following Saturday and transferred to another family.
