Funeral services for Betty Jean (Tootsie) Sims, age 68, of Dallas, TX, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Ebenezer Baptist Church of Lamesa, TX. with Rev. Gerry Gardner officiating.
The burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home of Lamesa, TX.
Viewing will be held at Gonzales Funeral Home on Thursday, November 21, 2019 and Friday, November 22, 2019, with a family visitation hour on Friday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Betty Jean passed away on Friday, November 15, 2019 in Dallas, TX.
She was born on April 12, 1951 in Lamesa, TX.
She was preceded in death her father, Charlie C. Richardson; her brother, Johnnie Lee Richardson, her grandparents, Melvin Edwards, Sr. and Georgia Edwards.
She loved Math, board games, puzzles, playing softball, and watching old movies. Her favorite soul foods were, Collard greens, yams, chitterlings, cornbread, and peach cobbler.
Betty Jean attended Blackshear elementary and high school. While living in Dallas, she became a certified nurse’s aide, having worked for Baylor University Medical Center, and finished her career working for Kroger Food Store in Dallas, TX.
Those left to cherish her memory: her mother, Betty Jo Richardson of Lamesa, TX.; brother, Willie Lee Coleman of Dallas, TX.; sisters, Mary Nation of Rowlett, TX., and Ann Thackurdin of Allen, TX.; nephew, Steven Richardson of Odessa, TX.; nieces, Cicily Newhouse of Lucas, TX., Machia Farley of Rowlett, TX., and Alexis Thackurdin of Penn State College of Pennsylvania; brothers-in-law, Martin Thackurdin of Allen, TX., and Rodger Nation of Rowlett, TX.; nephew-in-law, Rodd Newhouse of Lucas, TX.; great nieces, Cailyn Newhouse, Camryn Newhouse Madisyn, Mia Farley, Zara Richardson; great niece, God niece, Melanie Michell of Mansfield, TX.; friend, Carolyn Ellis; special friend, Ron Dendy; uncle, Bull Edwards of Hobbs, NM; aunt, Rosie Wright of Lamesa, TX.; numerous relatives and friends.
