Wilson 'Bill' Banta
Graveside services for Wilson “Bill” Banta, 92, of Lamesa will be held Friday, November 1, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Dawson County Cemetery with Wayne Smith officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 31, 2019 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home in Lamesa, Texas.
Wilson passed away Friday, October 25, 2019 in Mesa, Arizona, where he has lived for five years with his son and daughter-in-law.
He was born December 18, 1926 to W. T. and Ruby Lee (Brown Burris) Banta. He married Irene Elizabeth Ford on July 26, 1947 in Dallas, Texas. They were married for 64 wonderful years.
He was employed with Hunt Oil Energy Company for over 45 years as a drill supervisor. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 68 years.
Wilson is survived by son, Thomas Banta and wife, Ann of Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren, Zacharia Banta of Great Falls, Montana, Carman Hess and husband, Chad of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Rachael Willmer and husband, Kyle of Brooklyn, New York; two and a half year old great granddaughter, Isabella Hess, the light of his life; daughter-in-law, Patricia Banta Kreml; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wilson was preceded in death by his parents; son, Billy Banta; wife, Irene Banta; and sister, Lula Wilson.
