The Sands Mustangs are still seeking their first win of the 2019 football season.
But following Friday night’s gutsy effort on homecoming night at Ackerly they can’t help but feel like they’re getting closer.
A good start turned out being not quite enough as the Mustangs fell to the Wellman-Union Wildcats, 49-33.
“We saw some bright spots tonight but we’re still making too many mistakes,” Sands Coach Steve Keith said.
“At least tonight gave us more things that we can build on.”
Wellman-Union scored the first touchdown of the game in the opening quarter on a nine-yard pass.
