O’Donnell head football coach Fernando Baeza had been referring to Friday night’s six-man game against Ropes as one of those statement games.
Baeza’s Eagles didn’t get the final score that they were hoping to but if there is such a thing as a morale victory, Friday’s game was a prime example.
Despite going the game as 36-point underdogs, the Eagles gave the 19th-ranked six-man team in the state all they wanted before Ropes hung on for a 44-32 victory.
Last year Ropes thumped O’Donnell, 62-22.
