Sands’ young six-man football team continues to pay its dues in the early going.
Ranked as one of the top Division I six-man football teams in the state, the Ira Bulldogs lived up to their billing Thursday evening at Ackerly as they cruised past the Mustangs, 54-7.
Sands’ first home game of this season was stopped in the third quarter on six-man’s 45-point mercy rule.
“We’ve got a couple of freshmen out here who were baptized by fire tonight,” Sands Coach Steve Keith said.
The 0-2 Mustangs’ 14-player roster includes seven freshmen.
