Guy Dunbar
Funeral services for Guy Felton Dunbar, 88, of Lamesa, will be held Saturday, September 7, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Jim Medley officiating.
Interment will follow at Dawson County Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.
Visitation was held Friday, September 6, 2109 at Branon Funeral Home from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Guy passed away Friday, August 30, 2019 in College Station, Texas.
He was born June 5th, 1931 to Edgar Russell and Etta Vaughn (O’Neal) Dunbar in Lamesa, Texas. He was the eighth child of nine to be born. Guy was born in
the Munger Community and spent most of his life in Dawson County, except for
two years he served in the United States Army. He served with the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea. Guy graduated from Union High School in 1948.
Guy and Dorothy Hill were married November 16, 1956 by Reverend Author
Thomas at Westside Baptist in Lamesa Texas. Dorothy went to be with the Lord
April 5, 2010. He farmed at Munger and Sands community until 2004.
Guy liked hunting, fishing and golfing. He was a member of Bryan Street Baptist Church and served as superintendent, then moved to First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years.
Guy is survived by one son, the light of his life, Steven Dunbar and wife, Lanier of Caldwell, Texas; granddaughter, his pride and joy, Chanille Dunbar Juneau and husband, Ben of College
Station, Texas; precious great granddaughter, Ada Elise Juneau; second great
granddaughter, Chloe due in mid-December; sister, Edna Rice of Midland, Texas; brother , Kay Dunbar, and wife, Nelva of Weatherford, Oklahoma; Ann Tutle a great lady whom he developed a great relationship with; Blaine Middleton, friend and brother in Christ “Who would do anything for Me” and Jim Rush, a great friend and brother in Christ.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years Dorothy; parents; siblings, Lorene and J.A. Jones, Nona and Roy Smith, Ava and O.B. McWhorter, Raymond Dunbar, Melvin and Pat Dunbar, Bobbye and Dale McIlroy.
