For the second time in less than a month Lamesa firefighters on Friday faced both raging flames and intense afternoon heat while battling a house fire in the southern part of town. “There were already flames coming through the roof when I got there,” said Eddie Schwartz, the first firefighter to arrive. The entire west side of the wood-frame house at 606 S. 5th Street also was wrapped in flames.
