Ricky Don Archer

    Ricky Don Archer passed away at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 after a brief illness at the age of 67.   
    Ricky was born April 28, 1952 in Lamesa to James Melton and Margaret (McAnally) Archer.  
    Ricky is survived by his wife, Dorothy Archer of 42 years; children, Christina and Amgad Assaf of Lamesa and Ricky and Crystal Archer of Midland, TX; grandchildren, Addison and  Kinzley Archer, and Lilly Assaf; mother, Margaret Ratliff of Lamesa; sister, Vicki and Bryan Hanna of Pittsburg, Texas; brothers, Ronnie Archer, and James and Betsy Archer both of Lamesa; and a host of nieces and nephews.  
    He was preceded in death by his father, James Melton Archer; and brothers, Billy and Bob Archer, and Danny Griffin; grandparents, Otis and Jewel Archer and Dewey and Inez McAnally.  
    Ricky was a Veteran of the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War as a 60-gunner stationed in Germany.  Ricky loved spending time with his family.  He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.  
    He was a truck driver for Britt Trucking Company for over 30 years and logged over 2 million miles.  In his earlier years, he was a member of the Sheriff’s Posse and drew sketches for the Soil and Water Conservation District.  He designed a belt buckle for the Jaycees.   He was owner of numerous businesses around town; Rick’s Place, 4 Arrows Trucking, Bob’s Mini Golf, D&R Upholstery and Margaret’s Kitchen.  
    He enjoyed being on his tractor or discussing politics with someone.  He liked to stay busy and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.   
    Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.  
    Visitation will be held Saturday, July 27, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.  
    Graveside services will be held Sunday, July 28, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Dawson County Cemetery with Larry Beck of Salado officiating.
