Heavily-armed officers and panicked students could be seen in the hallways of Lamesa High School this past Wednesday.
It was all part of a training situation, however.
Beginning Monday and continuing through Wednesday, the Lamesa Police Department and Dawson County Sheriff’s office teamed up with the Lubbock County Sheriffs Office and SWAT to train for an active- shooter situation.
To make the training as realistic as possible, around 30 students were involved in Wednesday’s training session.
The entire campus was used for the training, with multiple student situations spread out in classrooms and various other areas of the building.
