A local couple’s granddaughter has proven that a strong freshman collegiate golf season was not any kind of fluke. Christina Pevey, the granddaughter of Lamesa’s Herrel and Wanda Hallmark, made All-Landmark Conference first-team honors for the second straight season. After shooting an 84 on the final round, Christina finished fifth in that conference’s golf championships to become a repeat honoree in her first two years of college golf. In her second year at Goucher College, located at Baltimore Md., Pevey finished with six top-10 finishes and three top-five finishes. She won the Gettysburg Tri-Match in the fall season.
