This past Tuesday, May 14, the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Lamesa Police Department of a phone scam attempting to solicit money from the citizens of Dawson County. “An unknown male subject, identifying himself as Deputy Wittaker with the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, is calling people and informing them they have to send him money,” Sheriff Matt Hogg said on Friday. “This subject is informing people if they do not send money to pay for either a warrant or fine, they will have a warrant issued for their arrest.” The current scam is very similar to one that was ...
