A combination of two factors – collecting more revenue and spending less – helped Dawson County end the 2017-2018 fiscal year with a net income of more than $1 million, according to the annual independent financial audit report.
Melvin Eaker, C.P.A., PC, with Gary, Bowers and Miller of Lubbock, told the Dawson County Commissioners Court on Tuesday that he commended the county’s elected officials, department heads and employees for efforts to stay within the budget.
“Any time you can do that (end the year ahead of the budget), that’s outstanding,” Eaker said.
