More than a quarter of a million dollars in non-budgeted purchases were approved by the Lamesa City Council on Tuesday night.
But, due to the generosity of the local Weaver Foundation, less than $20,500 of that total actually will require the use of taxpayer dollars.
Three separate donations by the Weaver Foundation, totaling $236,236.30, will fund the majority of those non-budgeted purchases.
Mayor Josh Stevens said he had visited with the foundation’s board about some of the equipment needs of the city and it had offered to help out with some of those needs.
