Ruby Bowman
Funeral services for Ruby Lea Bowman, 96, of Lamesa will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at 10:30 a.m., at Branon Funeral Home Chapel with Ben Phipps officiating.
Interment will follow in Dawson County Cemetery under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., at Branon Funeral Home.
Ruby passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019 in Lamesa. She was born on September 17, 1922 in Howard County to Alva Ola “A.O.” and Verna Gladys (Shipley) Read.
She married Ernest Bowman on December 2, 1945. He preceded her in death on November 25, 1994. They were married 48 years.
Ruby was an active member at Second Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She also taught school in Ackerly. Ruby loved to write letters to correspond with her family, friends, and missionaries. She enjoyed cooking for her grandchildren and each of them had their favorite birthday cake that she baked for them.
She is survived by her children, Earl Bowman and Janelise of Lamesa, and Elaine Holman and husband, Jimmy, of Hurst; sister, Jean Holley of Lamesa; grandchildren, Shantel Keune and husband, Kevin, of Timberon, New Mexico, Beckie Ortiz and husband, Omar, of Abilene, Michelle Wilson of Lamesa, Segelle Bryan and husband, Thomas, of New Home, Keven Bowman and wife, Crystal, of Mayhill, New Mexico, and Stephanie Buchholz and husband, Matt, of Alexandria, Virginia; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Ruby is also preceded in death by her parents; and grandson, Bryan Holman.
