Shirley (Israel) Napper Githens
Shirley (Israel) Napper Githens, of Lubbock and formerly of Lamesa, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, December 21, 2018. She was born May 7, 1940 in Fort Worth.
On April 28, 1956 she married Jerry Napper and they made their home in Lamesa where they raised their children. She was active in the community and Second Baptist Church. Jerry passed away on December 24, 2001.
On July 21, 2007 Shirley married Pat Githens. They made their home in Lamesa until moving to Lubbock in 2010.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Pat; son, Nicky Napper and wife, Leeann, of Lamesa; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Napper of Lubbock; grandchildren, Lori Napper of Houston, Cayla Napper of Lubbock, Devon Napper of Azle, Cari Anderson and husband, David, of Lubbock, and Candess Keane and husband, Mike, of Slaton; one great-grandson, Kason Anderson; and eight siblings, Barbara Martin and husband, Tom, Marie Childress and husband, James, Diane Blair and husband, Clint, Louise Porter and husband, Mark, James Goolsby and wife, Gina, Jimmy Goolsby and wife, Mary, Bud Goolsby and wife, June, and L.C. Goolsby; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Jack Israel; mother and step-father, Pauline and Herman Goolsby; son, Ricky Napper on July 28, 2018; and four siblings, Wanda Ruth Batchelor, and Loyd, Albert, and Authur Israel.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Venue on Broadway in Lubbock with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Second Baptist Church in Lamesa.
Burial will be private.
