SPECIAL RECOGNITION

Dwight Heins, longtime Lamesa Press-Reporter sports writer, was presented a plaque of appreciation from the Lamesa school district during last Friday’s Golden Tornado football game in appreciation for his dedicated coverage of Golden Tornado athletics. Athletic Director Gregg Moreland (right) was the announcer for the presentation, which was handled by Brent Berry, who has helped coach youth sports here with Heins. Following that presentation, Waylon Hogg (left) presented Heins with a $1,000 donation from the Wayne Hogg Memorial Golf Tournament Fund and buckets were passed among fans to collect additional contributions to assist Heins with ongoing medical expenses following recent surgery
