In a few short minutes Friday, the six current members of Lamesa City Council called for a special election on Dec. 18 to replace one of their own.

Public input is being sought about a Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) proposal to turn State Highway 115 in the southwestern part of Dawson County into a four-lane divided highway.
