Cotton planting is underway in South Texas, and Texas acres are expected to be up amid good prices and lingering drought conditions.
In its January crop report, USDA estimated a 2021-22 U.S. crop of 17.62 million bales. Upland production was estimated at 17.26 million bales and extra-long staple production at 367,000 bales.
Western Texas College will host a Farm and Ranch Expo at the WTC Coliseum Annex on March 24. The Expo will highlight the College’s new Farm and Ranch Management Program and offer a space for students, farmers, and ranchers to learn from experts in agricultural research and agriculture industry.

Students at Sands High School in Ackerly are not only learning how to weld and create things from metal, they are having great success doing it.

Former city council member Doug Morris pulled out of the mayoral race on Monday, just days after Mayor Josh Stevens announced he is seeking re-election May 7.
