The days of tardy bells, excused absences and extracurricular activities came to an end Friday as another class of Lamesa High School seniors accepted their diplomas in Tornado Stadium.
The school year ended early for most students in the Lamesa school system when classes were canceled after a potential terroristic threat began circulating on social media here Thursday evening.
Already complicated by road construction along Highway 180 for the past two years, travel across Lamesa is expected to soon get even more challenging.
With no local races on the ballot, local residents appear to be showing less interest in Tuesday’s statewide primary runoff elections than they did in the recent state constitutional amendment election.
As a school board member since 2013, it’s a common practice for Ernest Ogeda to attend all the Lamesa High School graduation ceremonies each year.
