Discussions about how much school officials can spend on a purchase withou prior board approval create heavy debate Thursday night between a school board member and the superintendent.
After saying yes to twopercent median pay raises for the school district’s 300 employees, school board members Thursday tied in a 3-3 vote when it came to offering the school superintendent the same package.
As good as last year’s cotton crop was – 4th largest in Dawson County history at 355,400 bales – this year’s could be that far to the other end of the scale.
The numbers may not be completely tallied, but it’s estimated that 3,000 swimmers will have dipped into the municipal swimming pool this summer.
