SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS

SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS

Cris Norris (center), president of the Lamesa Service Club, presents Laynie Allen, president of the Lamesa High School chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), a $1,000 check to help cover the students’ expenses as they participate in various contests and activities around the state this spring. Many of the students assisted the Lamesa Service Club during the organization’s recent annual pancake supper. Shown, in addition to the students, are Kevin Pedroza (back row, left), FCCLA sponsor, and Scott Miers, Lamesa Service Club treasurer.

PIPE WORK

PIPE WORK

A construction crew working at the city’s Roundtree pump station prepares to remove a section from the pipe which delivers water to Lamesa from the Canadian River Municipal Water Authority. The City of Lamesa enacted water restrictions from noon Monday through Saturday in an effort to avoid any water shortages while work was being done to put in a new pipe and valve assembly needed as part of the municipal water improvements underway by the city. The pump station where the work was occurring is just west of the new 14-million-gallon water storage tank that is part of the same project.
