At the beginning of each year, Lamesa Police Chief Josh Peterson goes before city council to give a report on the annual numbers of traffic stops to ensure there are no incidents of racial profiling.The report breaks down traffic stop numbers based upon each driver’s gender, ethnicity and alleged offenses.The 2022 report showed 2,457 traffic stops made for 437 law violations, 1,339 moving violations and 650 vehicle violations.
