Library ready to host Spring Break activities
Next week is Spring Break and the Dawson County Public Library has an array of activities scheduled to keep students a bit busy during their break from school.
The library is hosting its third annual free Prom Dress Boutique from 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
All donated prom dresses are free of charge. High school students in Dawson County can go to the library to pick up a dress for the prom. They can either keep the dress or re-donate it for next year’s prom.
Lamesa High School students will attend their prom beginning at 8 p.m., May 4 in the school cafeteria.
Spring Break isn’t just for students. There’s an Adult Coloring Hour for those 18 or older. Join fellow artists and color inside the lines from 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. daily, starting Monday through Thursday in the library’s meeting room on the west side of the library.
Participants need to call the library at 806-872-6502 to register and reserve their coloring books.
For those ages 12-17, there’s following in the footsteps of great artists with daily activities Monday through Thursday with a community art exhibition March 15. Activities take place in the library’s meeting room on the west side of the building at 511 N. 3rd Street.
Teen volunteer time will be held from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. with the program running from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m.
It’s Matisse Monday and Picasso’s turn on Tuesday. For Wednesday, it’s Warhol and Thursday is designated for van Gogh.
For more information or to register for each age group, call 806-872-6502.
There is no age limit on artists interested in participating in a chance at winning a prize.
A coloring contest, allowing artists to draw the face of a Leprechaun, ends March 15. All they have to do is finish their Leprechaun drawing and enter their name into the prize contest.
