BROWNFIELD – In a special meeting, the Brownfield City Council came to the decision to not open the Family Aquatic Center this summer. City Manager Jeff Davis, Parks and Recreation Director Scott Jackson, and Water Director James Nix all recommended to the city council to not open the pool this summer and instead, work on getting it fixed for next year.

When the Dawson County Public Library sent the call out for young readers to show up Monday afternoon in their best postal worker outfi t, they didn’t disappoint. The kids came out with postal worker’s outfi ts, t-shirts, trucks, boxes, a dog and even a mailbox. Afterward, youngsters enjoyed a show-ing of the fi lm, “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi.” The library’s next dress-up day is June 22 when children can come dressed up as their favorite cartoon characters.
