Evan Young, a former clerk to the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, has been appointed to the Texas Supreme Court by Gov. Greg Abbott. He will replace Justice Eva Guzman, who resigned in June to run for Texas attorney general.

Dear Editor, In the midst of a trying time, the hospitality and attention given by the nursing staff of Medical Arts Hospital was amazing. The constant support, encouragement, and unwavering care to both our patient, Tiofi lo Sauseda Jr., and our family made all the difference.

A Medina County child is being treated for rabies in a Texas hospital, the Department of State Health Services reported last week. It is the first case of rabies in a human reported in the state since 2009. The child was bitten by a bat, according to DSHS.
