A benefit softball tournament will be held at Forrest Park this coming weekend to raise funds for Lili Gutierrez.
That tournament will be held on Saturday and Sunday, beginning around 8 or 9 a.m., depending on how many teams register.
Proceeds from the event will be presented to Lili Gutierrez, who underwent costly surgeries after  an Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) hemorrhaged in her brain in June.
The entry fee is $200 for each softball team in the tournament. A maximum of 14 teams will participate. Event organizer Matthew Lopez said he is hoping the maximum number of teams will register.
Each team will pay $20 at the plate and the winning team will get their money back.
Unlimited home run wristbands will cost $20 for a maximum of five per team. Whoever wears the wristbands will be able to hit an unlimited number of home runs in the tournament.
Tournament winners will win the following prizes: first place, trophy and shirts; second and third places, T-shirts.
The following prizes will be available to the winners of the home run derby: first place, choice of jersey; second place, choice of gloves; and third place, choice of hat.
“A lot of people from around town are helping out, and I really appreciate them,” Lopez said.
