O’Donnell ISD will hold a celebration of veterans this coming Monday, starting at 11:30 a.m. ,in their Eagles’ Nest Gymnasium to observe the Veterans Day holiday.
    This will be the third year O’Donnell has held an annual Veterans Day program. Counselor and Student Council Sponsor Nicole White said O’Donnell is small, but the school has pride in a lot of things.
    According to the event’s program, the celebration will begin with a welcome from Superintendent Dr. Cathy Palmer.
    Student Council historian Madison Roye will lead the pledges and the Screamin’ Eagle Band will play the national anthem.
    Next, Student Council vice president Sabrina Pedroza will speak. After the Little Eagle fifth grade band performs “God Bless America,” Pedroza will give a speech, as well.
    Principal Cody White will introduce the veterans. Afterward, Mark Roye will perform a bell ringing and Student Council member Dayzee Catro will word a prayer.
    Band director Brad Walker will play “Taps” before the students are dismissed. The event will conclude with a veterans’ meal served by O’Donnell High School culinary arts.
    The program is important to veterans, White said. Furthermore, she said, it is important for kids to learn about veterans and appreciate the sacrifices other people make.
